    Default pline vs Object

    Hello,

I've been using Auto CAD 2000,

and I am able to draw in 2D ,

but if I am correct Ace Converter as well as other,
dxf to g-code converters need all part drawn with Polylines,

can I conver my circles and sqare lines ect.. to plines ??

    I get the following,

    Command: pedit
    Select polyline or [Multiple]:
Object selected is not a polyline
    Select polyline or [Multiple]:

or do I have to re-draw my file ???

I tried to redraw but my circles look ok in CAD,

but when I generate G-code with ACE I get.. what looks like and inverted arc,

any help would be great !!!

    Thanks,

Try this site www.tahlcam.com they have a complete CAM plug-in for 2 1/2 D programming inside AutoCAD 2000 and 2002. It will create what you want from the circles you draw. I think you will like it.

Circles can't be plines, all lines can be joined into plines. Make sure when your drawing that the object is on 0,0,0.

Pedit will convert a line to a pline, if you just click on it first when you enter pedit.

Boundary will take an enclosed area, delimitated by lines or arcs, and convert it into a single closed pline on the current layer. Very handy.

well for the kind of stuff I'm doing, I can use the demo No Problem,

Plus I did not have to learn anything new ( not that I mind but the ) *.dxf converter I was trying where not cutting it..... and I did not have the control that I have here.

This lets me conver my current drawings ... ( dont have to redraw anything to Plines ) and go from *.dwg to Gcode in a few minutes ( not of this save to *.dxf then gcode )

I did run into a few problem but not sure if its my doing or the software.. (for now I make sure I have my part to right scale before I start.

I will be cutting mostly airplain parts... ( Ribs, ect...)

I would give the demo a try !!!

Specially if you already know CAD, and want to cut you time to convert G-CODE in half,

If my projects where to grow past the 1000 line demo, I would still buy it.. My main hobby is RC Flying .. not CNC (sorry guys) anything to get me back in the air.....

Is the demo time restricted, or just 1000 line?

You may want to take a look again, I just took a look and they must have lowered it, to a 500 line limit.

Hi fellows, TahlCAM does post 1000 lines with out time limit. The Website is slow catching up. I'll change it today.

Ace doesn't need all polylines. Just save as rev 12 dxf and convert. It's that simple.

I would like to try Tahlcam too. Could the author please Pm the info or post a link here?

    I wish it wouldn't crash.

    Balsaman,

Im sure Jim will respond soon,

he was a great help to me, after I finished my CNC,

TahlCAM let me get up and going right a way,

it solved all my CAD to G-code conversions questions/problems,
    almost over night.

I've been away now for a while, day job keeping me busy

    ......

not sure what driver you are using but I am running turbo cnc,
and created a script to conver the post from TahlCAM to a file format that turbo cnc can ready ( It basicaly re-writes the header section on the post.
    ....
