Must be my day for baffling Fusion things
Two features to mill, nice easy selections, roughing out with a 2d adaptive path, two steps down for each feature.
Now, WHY would fusion decide to do one pass then rapid to the other feature and do one pass then rapid back and so on - this makes no sense at all ?????

Can't this time as it's not mine I'm afraid.
I did fix it but only by splitting the path into two tasks, one for each hole. Not as tidy but works.
Very baffling as nothing i tweeted made it do one then the other, it just wanted to hop between the two.

This is just one of the bugs that HSMworks has. They have some work to do but it is just a minor inconvenience with air cutting. HSMworks started this on their own while other companies just buy the CNC technology from other companies and put it in their software.

Hmm, ok i maybe going way too far ahead here
I was hoping to run something like a 2mm ball-end fillet along the edge highlighted in the pic.
Naturally, Fusion says no, warnings about the ends of the chain etc, my guess is because the ends blend into the main body?
I'm not to bothered here as it's just me adding features to improve it- it won't affect the part if i don't bother
Is this advanced?

That's something that needs work in fusion to make it better or give a error message

I did a quick test along these lines. Just a simple plate with a spline generated step. I modeled a .0625" radius in the corner.
Op 1: Adaptive Clearing using a 3/8" end mill with a .020" corner radius
Opt 2: A "2D Trace" path using a .125" ball end mill, and the second screen grab shows the edge/feature/line I selected, and the settings in the 4th tab.
Worked perfectly.
My issue seems to be in the modelling then, i could not add the fillet feature - this was where the error was coming in.
In your test part the fillet rad is there, mine is still square

did you try it with a fillet size above and below 2mm sometimes 1.99 or 2.01 works

Yep, all way down to silly size, this is the error...
Error: The fillet/chamfer could not be created at the requested size. This might be occurring at the ends of the selected edges.
Try adjusting the size or using multiple separate operations. Check that the selected edge chain ends at a sensible position, and if not try selecting more edges.

Yer it's a errors error error. if you realy wont it in there do a sweep, or the other option is try a ruled fillet

Yes, in your model it's doubtful that Fusion would allow the fillet.
You may be able to create a line on a sketch that is 1mm off that corner, then use that line to create your Trace path (on centerline). Or... simply select that (existing) sharp corner line on the model, and do an axial offset of 1mm after selecting in the Trace method.

What i was hoping to do was machine the part from each side towards the centre-line from a larger lump of stock. I wanted to leave a frame of stock around it so i could flip it over and machine the back - it would be machined in a pocket basically. I can select the mid-line as a depth easily, but no matter what method i seem to choose, the paths either do not cover the whole perimeter or they cover the whole stock surface which means no pocket and side 2 would be seriously harder and likely need a fixture etc.
When doing the back, i wanted to leave holding tabs so it didn't fall free.
Not sure if that makes sense but i know what i want just not how to get it

It make sense it's a router users way of doing it, you see some machinist doing the same thing and they get very excited that it worked.
