Default Sieg X3 - Erratic Spindle Speed

My X3 has developed very erratic stop/start motion at low motor speed settings and has no power to do any work. Opinions - motor, control board or speed control potentiometer?

    Hi,
If it is DC motor with brushes, check the condition of the brushes by removing them and have a look. They may be worn or dirty.

    Cheers

You may find some useful info at the link below on the trouble shooting page. Although checking the motor brushes as phomann said is the first thing I would do.

I've had this problem with a SX3. unplugging connectors and wiping down with Innox fixed mine.

Thanks all for your replies. I have checked the brushes and they seemed fine but the commutator looks a bit ordinary. Its like the machine has a broken wire or similar with stop-start-stop-start action and it seemed to happen all of a sudden. I guess I'll check the connections and pull the motor and get a little more serious. I have a bit on my plate at the moment and was just trying to 'short circuit' the repair as its annoying not having the drill for quick little jobs. Thanks again.
