Ok making some progress (sorta) the stepper motor gets hot reasonably quickly... sigh so I have to disconnect it before I can run a calibration. Stepper is a C014S-9212K VEXTA 1/8 /step DV 5V 1.4A ....

One issue I had with getting a peep from it was, the Y still had the Slave setting on in UCCNC... mind you I'm still lost... LOL

I've taken the stepper off the wormdrive for now, it seems to be ok, I tested it with an led quick turn either way both wires led lights up. I thought I may have damaged it.

I thought I could run a 5v stepper from the G540 maybe I am mistaken...

    Any clues ???

I have tried dr google but that model number stepper to find at least an equivalent to it but not much luck..

    Cheers,
    Steve

You probably need an appropriate current set resistor to limit the current to 1.4 amps.

Thank you for taking the time much appreciated.

That sounds like an aftermarket item, but I think so.

homanndesigns sells them and they are a part of the db9 standard plugs you get with the g540 as I understand it. I didn't think about it at all, not like you crack them open every day. https://www.homanndesigns.com/index....roducts_id=343. I ordered a few from Peter yesterday, so will be a day or so before they arrive.

Mind you I think I've buggered the stepper anyways, I have a little arduino 3 axis controller, not a peep.

Will see next couple of days.

Thank you for taking the time.

    Cheers,
    Steve
