Default XY Datum or machine home question...

I have a model that I need to start in a position other than machine home, mainly due to 2 sided carving.

I've located 3 pins in the material that I need to use for 0,0 on the model but I'm not exactly sure what I should be setting in Aspire. Is it the Home / Start Position that I should be using or am I using the Offset in the Material setup, hopefully this makes sense.

My 1st pin is (.5, 2.25) from machine home.

The lower left point in the XY datum is some point on the actual part. could be the lower left corner or a hole in the part. On the drawing it is the lower left of the material. Just like center point XY datum is the 0,0 of the drawing. So if your material is 12X12 then it’s the lower left of that 12X12 square.
Use offset to offset that XY datum to your hole at .5 and 2.25. So when using that offset I think you zero the machine at the corner and it cuts like it was zeroed at the hole. I’d run a test cut above the part just to verify.

    Thanks for the reply.

Knowing that its the "Offset" I need to change I think this looks correct?? Entering the numbers in negative seems to have done the trick..

I already have a fixture mounted and homed at machine home so I'll give this a shot and see where it gets me.

Just to close the loop on this question... changing the "Offset" was the cure.

    Thanks for the help.
