Hello all.

We have a DMU 80T that is about 4 years old. We are running full 5 axis using a Hoffman rotary table. When it's running everything is good, but lately we are having problems getting the table to home on power up. It will just continually rotate. I suspect it is similar to other tables I have worked on and has a 1 revolution pulse on an encoder. We have talked to DMG and they say to replace the rotary transducer at about $6200. Has anyone had any experiance with the rotary's on the Hoffman tables? Any help would help greatly.

Thanks
John

I've had the same problem with 4 axis rotary tables on older Mahos.
If the table counts its position back to you, it can be as simple as a broken
wire feeding back to the control. I'd unplug the wire at both ends and check for continuity in the leads. The encoders on the older machines are heidenhien
and the way they works is, as the table passes the refernce mark on the scale it sends a signal back to the R/M board which starts the reference sequence.
I know a broken wire sounds to simple but I've had it happen on three diffrent machines.
GOOD LUCK
