Just wondering if anyone has tried to preload the cheap $20 5/8" ball nut with oversized balls. This past weekend I tried this by replacing the existing ball, which measured 0.124", with 0.125" balls. The nut went on easily with just an ever so slight feeling that it was tight. The slop associated these nuts when you twist them around from side to side was completely gone!!! I was wondering if this preload would have any adverse affects on the assembly with this size of balls. FYI, i got the balls after opening up a set of closed thomson sp8 linear bearings because I needed them to be open style.
