Hi all, I have been tasked with the design of a 110mm pipe fitting mould, with a socket that has a 6mm undercut to form the recess for a rubber seal. On samples I can see how the segments for the collapsible part are orientated. Can anyone tell me how these segments are caused to move within the mould? Are they spring loaded or forced downward by a t-slotted cam? I have hunted all over the net, and although I can find blurry pics, there are no descriptions as to how they work. Any help much appreciated.

Regards, Brian

Brian,

DME also has a unit called a "Multiform" that uses cams and the movement of the mold plates to actuate the undercuts.
