Hello guys-

I have a question regarding linear rod, does that ever "bow/flex" at some point if its to long? I am looking to make the x 96 in. I would also guess it would depend on the weight of a gantry...

Logic dictates that its all depends on the material.. I was looking at the mcmastercarr website, as well as the posts in this forum.. but could not find anything specifically regarding length restrictions.

Any info/recommendations would be appreciated...

Depends more on the diameter of the rod, I used 2 5/8 rods for a 36 in axis and there is too much flex in it. For 96 inches you would need to have at least 3 in diameter if not more. I have a 7 ' 8" ball screw that is 1.5" roundd and it hsa some flex in it. Hope that this helps a little.
