I have a Smithy 1240 geared-head mill with a 1hp "Y802-4" single phase, flange mounted ac motor. I understand the NEMA motor frame system, but know nothing of the Chinese system. Can I locate a mechanically compatible 3 phase, 240 vac motor that I can run with a VFD?

Any good sources on understanding this metric nomenclature? Are there domestic companies that sell this stuff?

For matching C mount motor & VFD, there is Baldor, WEG, Leeson, Parker Motion.
Just for a few.

www.surpluscenter.com has a good selection of motors at great prices. They usually have spec sheets on their site.
