What tooling would you guys recommend for backboring.

Example: There is an existing hole in the part which is 2.000" in diameter and I need to go 12" deep into it and maching a backbore of 3.775" in diameter. No quill feed on the spindle but I have thru coolant. FH-6800 Mazak Machining Center.

The length of the tool is going to be a problem if you intend on using the ATC as the tool needs to be about 1½" longer than the hole.
It is a through, isn't it? If it is blind then I would look at the inserted grooving cutter from Horn (Germany). If the tolerances aren't so tight and the hole is through, have a look at the Erix system (Swedish). Finally, if it is a true back boring tool you need (off centre and "L" shaped) having the shank made of Densamet will help damp out the vibrations.
