View Full Version : Fryer mill with Siemens Sinumerik 840D- How to post NC file to USB?

Hey all,

I am having our Mastercam reseller create a post processor for our Fryer MQ-14 with Sinumerik 840D controller using ShopMill to program. They are requesting an NC file created in ShopMill (as opposed to ISO mode G & M codes only) to see how the machine calls out tool changes, contours, drill cycles, etc. The problem I am having is getting the .MPF files to look anything like a typical G code program that the reseller can use.

Here's what I've done: I've pulled .MPF programs that have already been run successfully on the mill from the Part Programs by selecting the program, hitting COPY, selecting the USB thumb drive I have inserted, hitting PASTE and it puts it on the thumb drive.

When I put the file on my computer and open it with Notepad to view what it looks like, it has some seriously strange comments and just a little bit of discernible G and M codes thrown in on certain programs. The post reseller is telling me it is unreadable and that it appears to be a secondary post processor program and not a true .MPF file.

Here's what one of the programs, a simple deep drilling cycle in a four-hole pattern, looks like:

N5 E_HEAD(3678207,2.,2.,0.,-2.,-2.,-1.,70,17,0.05,2.,0,1,7,0,1);*RO*
N10 E_DR_PEC(1,0,0,"DR125","",1,0.0008,3,1600.,1,0,-0.7,0,0.3,0.6,0.08,0.5,-1,0.01,0.05);*RO*
N15 _E_P001: E_PS_CIR(1,0,0,0.,90,0.,90,0.,90,1.5,0.,30.,4,0,1,200.,"");*RO*
M30 ;#SM;*RO*

Can anyone help me figure out how to post a usable NC file so I can get my Mastercam post processor going??
