View Full Version : Need Help! Wiring CNCRouterparts 48 x 96

I am starting to wire my control box for my cncrouterparts 48 x 96 kit and have a question about stepper wiring. The steppers and cords that come with the kit are 5 wire. 4 go to the gecko drives and the 5th one goes to a common ground for the cable shield. My question is where is the best place to connect the 5th wire to qualify as common ground?

Thank you

Hi Dan,

It's best to wire these to a stud on your enclosure, which should also be tied to earth ground.

Best regards,

Thanks for the reply, but i have one minor problem. I am not using a metal enclosure. Can a simply ground it back through the ac plug coming in to power the power supply?

You can do exactly what Ahren has suggested without a metal enclosure. If you are using a non conductive enclosure
just drill a hole in an open area run say a 1/4-20 x 1" bolt through the hole run a wire from your from you AC mains ground
to the bolt as well as all other grounding to that point, commonly referred to as a star ground
