View Full Version : Need Help! cutting speeds for birch ply

I am new to this field. I am making cable chains for my crp4848 from 6mm birch ply. my porter-cable router says it runs at 27,500rpm, I am using a 1/8" solid carbide spiral bit. it seems to be working at 1000mm/min, 2mm cuts with .7 overlap. I've slowed the router down a bit (guessing 10% ?) with a motor control. are these reasonable numbers or can things be run faster? the bit doesn't seem to be burning. there is some fuzz on top when done, but it cleans off easily with some 220 grit sanding.
