View Full Version : Accessing the outputs

Hi, all!

I'm running a DynaTorch plasma cutter, and am trying to access some of the motor outputs. I'd like to be able to activate a circuit by having the appropriate M-code turn one of the outputs on or off, similar to what would be done in this thread. (http://www.cnczone.com/forums/dynatorch/156715-anyone_using_laser_their_dynatorch.html) (Activating a laser via an M/G-Code)

Something I have tried is testing the voltage across the terminals on the back of the control console, but they all read a constant 0 (save for the Arc Transfer terminals, which reads a constant ~48 V). I was hoping to be able to use a change in voltage here to switch on a relay, which would then activate my circuit.

Anyone have any advice? I'm fairly new to this, and my machine is second-hand, so I'm not sure if I'm trying to do something completely impossible.

Thanks!

Ah, ha! Figured it out! The SmartMotor outputs control outputs that are on the SmartMotors! (Of course!)

For anyone else with the same question, I used the pins on the Sub D15 connector on my Y-axis. I followed the specs on the following sheet:

This told me what outputs went where, and what I should hook the wires up to. It should be simple from here!
