What are the disadvantages of rectangular ducts compared to round ones?. I want to cobble up some cardboard rectangular ducts for my airbrush booth, the round shapes are too bulky for what I want for duct work. Any comments

None really, at least for what you are making. The air flow is not as efficient in rectangular ducts and dust can collect along the corners but that is not really applicable to you.

Thanks, I just find rectangular ducts cleaner looking and easier to fabricate from found materials.

Mechanically, the amount of vacuum you put on the ducting would be one point of materials. Interior of the ducting being smooth, slow curves, no sharp corners, all make the air flow smoothly. It still takes lots of power if you are trying to capture sub-micron size particles (like paint droplets) from escaping.

What did you wind up using? Post a pix or two would be nice!

I just kept the round ones that came with the unit. I guess after reflection I don't use it enough to buy new ductworks
