Hello, We have an old CNC that is on its last dime, but I am thinking of doing some work to the boards.

Is it generally just the capacitors that go bad on old boards or is there other discrete components that should be looked at.

thanks

You do not mention what make or model of drives?
For example if it is the older style Westamp analogue or similar DC drives then it is often quicker and easier to fit later drives such as Advanced Motion or Copley.
Caps and variable resistors were prone to faults on the Westamp et-al.

So is the drive functional and you are just wanting to make sure it remains working or is it out of commision? I do board level repair but i am always willing to help with info if i am able to. what is the drive specs and model number? (303)841-2795 ask for Justin.
