Hi,

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to electronics, so I have a question about something I'm planning to do. I have a variable DC power supply that can output fixed DC +5V/3A, +12V/1A, -12V/1A, and variable 2.5-20V/2A. I would like to use this to test my Xylotex board before building my final enclosure which will use a different PS. Does it make sense to use the +5V line to power the logic on the board and the variable 2.5-20V line to power my motors?

I told you I'm ignorant when it comes to electronics! :)

TIA!

Yes it's okay PROVIDED THAT your motors doesn't need more than 2A. Some PS will drop the voltage when you exceed the current limit but some PS just blow the fuse.
