View Full Version : Cutting Depron Sheets

I want to build something similar to:
Phlatprinter 3 Kit (http://www.phlatboyz.com/Phlatprinter-3-Kit_p_9.html)

I just can't afford $1000 these days.... :(

Could someone point me in the right direction on where to get started? I'm searching for plans for something similar. It DOES NOT need to do 3D cuts or feed the sheets like a printer.

I'm picturing a simple plotter type idea to cut out shapes into flat depron sheets. (yes, for foam planes... I am a rc addict!)

I have no idea where to begin....

Thank you for any input!!

Hello Bells
The best way I can think of is cutting your plane parts from 80mm pink or blue foam standing on it,s side, the second step is to, slice them in the right thickness using a stationary hotwire set at the right hight and pushing the foam through by hand.

Only thing is that you can build a few planes with one cutout. This is cheaper than buying depron in the long run. O yes you should slice of the skin on both sides before you begin otherwise the section will buckle. Happy Landings!!
