Description: The DCS810 is a digital DC servo drive developed with DSP and high efficient MOSFET technologies. In position control, it’s easy for the end users to change stepper drives to the DCS810 without changing control systems, because its input command is PULSE/DIRECTION signal, which is compatible with that of stepper drives. In low power motion control applications, performances of DC servo systems using the DCS810 are better than those of digital AC servo systems in velocity, precision, noise, stability, or at least as good as those of digital AC servo systems. However, the cost of the DCS810 stays at the price line of stepper drive, namely far lower than those of AC servo drives.

The DCS810 is very easy to tune and all parameters are visible. Parameter visible tuning tools, including Pro Tuner (Windows based setup software), EZ Tuner (Text Monitor) and STU (Small servo tuning unit) can meet different tuning environments or requirements.

* Based on DSP control technology and high smooth servo control algorithm.
* Input: 18-80VDC
* Output: 0-20A
* Parameter visible tuning tools, including Pro Tuner, EZ Tuner and STU.
* Feedback resolution ×4 encoder line count.
* Position Following error lock range adjustable
* Position error can be eliminated to 1 count, and Velocity error can be eliminated to the Desired Velocity* ±0.3%
* Electronic gear ratio from 1/255 to 255
* Built-in motion controller for self-test with trapezoidal velocity profile
* Support PULSE/DIRECTION and CW/CCW control signals
* Opto-isolated inputs, support single-ended and differential signals
* 10 latest errors self-record function
* Over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, phase error, encoder error, position following error protections
* Small size, surface-mount technology
* Dimensions: 4.57 X 2.72 X 1.04 inches; 7.41 oz

Pros: compact , well integrated, easy integration into almost any design
Cons: limited to 20 amps peak,

geeez,, if i only had these goodies 3 years ago..
they are so sweet.. dsp controlled and tuned with an rs-232 port..
when there is a problem it holds the error in its buffer to be analyzed later.(up to 10 errors deep)
the connectors come off for easy installation and if you burn one up like i did easy replacement..
(it was intentional destruction.. i was comparing it next to a geckodrive 340 in a head to head destructive test .. the smoke was released by the geckodrive first ..then about 1 hour later poof went to the dcs810.. but then it was a no win for any controller.. and i had to reset the over current faults repeatedly and finally after defeating the protection circuits then locking the motors i got smoke..)
tough little buggers.... the both of them..
on the installation.. the geckodrive is a hog on space.. where the vertical mounting and the connector locations make for an easy dense mount of the dcs810.. i have heard rumors that there may be an option to extend the power handling options coming ..

using the tuning software it is possible to observe and fine tune the controller in action.. a feature that is simply not possible with geckodrive...

i had a tough time dealing with the company directly at first.... but after some dialog.. in Chinese and broken english.. they referred me to their American distributor. American Motion Tech.
www.americanmotiontech.com
then it was as easy as pie to get and the support was great..
( paul and victor were excellent resources)

Chris Li is a great guy to deal with... ( tell him i sent you and he might offer a special for the cnczone group)
