This is my first machine. Using Mach 2 I began cutting parts in 5/8\" plywood within two weeks of unpacking it. I run a small woodworking shop, and the machine has enabled me to cut production time from 32 minutes to 7 minutes for a pair of plywood patterns. I still have a few issues to work out. Specifically, managing the cables and dust collection but those are both manageble. I am very pleased and am looking forward to adding a rotary axis next year.

The machine comes well packed in a cardboard box, with bubble wrap. Assembly took 5min to screw in 10 screws. The gantry slides on a un-supported 3/4\" dia steel rod, with linear bearings. The X,Y and Z axis 1/2\" Acme screws with pre-loaded ball-nuts.
The gantry does have some deflection do to the 1/2\" rods, and not being supported. The twisting should not cause a big problem as the force at the cutting tip would need to be quite high for a lot of deflection to occur.
The X axis linear bearing have grease fittings. The acme screw show no sign of play as they are pre-loaded with high quaility springs. The machine did come with a router mount, but I will be replacing that with a mount from them that will accept a PC trim router.
I still have to hook up my stepper and run it but that will be a few weeks off.

The New model of this machine comes in a wooden box. For the a great price you get reliability, accuracy, peace of mind, and satisfaction gaurantee. Comes preassembled 98%, with shaft and multi contact bearings that are sealed from dust. New design has more al mass, uses anti-backlash Kerk® leadscrews & nuts, uses 275 oz/in stepper Nema 23 motors. There is flex on the shaft when using excessive feeds. But at times even your bit will bend on excess passes on bigger machines. Doing a finial pass with small cuts will get you accurate cuts and better finish. At times you are still limited to the physics of the bit dia, material, depth of cut, angle of bit, and more. This is a light duty machine but customers have made guitar bodies and inlays with this machine (with addtional options).

I am new here. I am looking for small CNC machine and this one (KC-1414) looks very much like what I need.
