    Default Stepper does not turn

I got a 7x7 kit from zen recently and put it together.I got Arduino CNC Shield for Arduino UNO, put it together, wired & powered up. I use grbl as controller.

When I send a move command for 1 axis stepper makes a small move to the direction and than makes a grinding noise.

I uploaded a video to show the exact problem:

I was tested it with 5 and 20 steps, it didnt make any difference

I plugged only 1 driver and 1 stepper (X axis) and also tried Y & Z (1 at a time) but the results were same.

    I have Nema 17 steppers (model# SST43D2121) and I use 20V 14 A power supply.

I am attaching 2 photos, 1 shows the whole machine and 2 show the board.

    Thanks for helping me out.

That is a stalled stepper. Uncouple and test. Check the polarity on your motor connections. It could be that one phase is trying to run opposite the other.

I tried all possible combinations, no luck.

PS: There is no mechanical jam, before wiring I attached a battery powered screw driver to the outer shaft of stepper and moved each axis all the way back and forward. All 3 axis moves smoothly, I also can turn the steppers by hand.

There are 6 leads coming out of the motor. What is happening with the other 2 leads?

I would dress up the power connections on the Pos and Neg terminals. Too easy for a short to occur there. Maybe a bit of shrink wrap. I killed my very first driver kit with and incidental contact of a motor wire. It didn't feel good.
If the acceleration is set too high, then the motor cannot get up to speed and will foul out missing steps. Even with it not mounted to anything.
