Hi Guys, If your an Autocad, indeed - any type of cad, user you tend to draw what the mind 'sees'. If your a newbie (like me), you tend to draw what you know how to do first. The result is that you will end up with what you want on the screen, but what you have on the screen is interpreted by converters such as Ace converter not as a continous entity, but as a series of lines and arcs in the order they were drawn. So if you draw something on one side of the part and then say draw something on another side of the part, then DXF to G code converters seem to follow your design ideas, and not the continous path one would expect. So If your still with me is there a mechanism in Ace converter or indeed any similar program or perhaps even in the original cad program that will allow you to 'force' the tool path to something sensible - i.e. make it move continuously around a part adjusting height on each pass. Any advice would be appreciated Clik! |

| There is an option in AutoCAD when saving .dxf's to select objects, which puts them in order. This may help. Look under "tools" in the save dialog. If your using AutoCAD 2002 or newer, I have a better option for you. AutoCAD 2 G-Code macro

Gerry,Thanks for the reply I'm convinced - at least enough to try it! Where can I download your Gcode Macro from? The download page of this forum has nothing in it (or perhaps I should say my pc cannot find anything ) - is something blocking it? Regards Clik! |
