    Will,
I think using the 4080 for the legs is a good idea. That should stiffen them up. I feel that mine spring around a bit on acceleration and deceleration. I am also thinking that closing in the sides with some plywood would really stiffen it up and prevent any racking that might occur.

I hope your extrusion arrives so you can get back at building.
Bob I am surprised they only have one drawing.

    Will,
Looking at the drawing you posted it struck me that the 8020 extrusion must be all that if what you posted was the entire base assembly.
Considering that it is a machine base for a machine that is NOT static that stuff must bolt together very solidly for that simple of a frame to do the job.
If I can afford the 8020 I will be putting in more legs for other reasons, so mine should work great for a machine half the size of yours. (2'x4').

    Bob,

Yes the machine will bolt to the top of the frame like Dave did. I plan on adding some vertical supports I'm making out of baltic birch plywood. I also may inclose part of it also. I have some ideas of what to do but can't until I get the frame and machine mounted on top.

Going to try this for my Y buttons. May not work but was cheap. I think it was a 1/2" nut with washer built in. I bored out the threads so the metric cap screw would fit in. Not knowing how the sensors work I will give it a try

    Will,
I think your parts will work good.
Is that an M8 hole for your fake prox switch.
Your machine shop works great. ;-)

My base came late Friday, packed it in the truck and went to the lake. Saturday morning I put the base together. As you can see I have level casters that will lock the machine down and level at the same time if needed.
