HI, guess every one,s wondering what happen to my machine, well I basically tore it down to see whats what. made some new couplings, collars, bearing blocks, realigned every thing.
and it seems to run ok but no were near what I expected, still very little torque, Which I,m wondering about what D.L was saying, what version of drivers are you speaking of, I have ver 2.03. If any one knows of this please let me know. Thanks

Graham, I pulled the documents on my xylotex.
The version was the latest 12 months ago, 4.03 onwards.
It is rated to a max of 30v but recommends 27v, I heard 425oz motors need much more so I maxed power at 29v with 4 CPU fans. (the case gets ice cold)
Now the Vref is a max of 2.0v, the earlier model was 3.6v.
If all off this is fine then all I can think of is step/dir are wired in reverse and you have tuned out the motors wrong. Emc2 and Mach3 are are opposite configurations.
It has something to do with square wave being a little bit out.
Just recheck your RS232 pin numbers.
Re read all documentation (xylotex manual, mach3 user manual).
    It should be clockwork.

Another thing, 425oz motors seem like a glove fit for a G250 gecko, xylotex is a little to small. Without a voltage kick I heard 425's are lacklustre.

Hey D.L thanks for the info, My version is an old one I guess, I do know that I,d be better with the g540,s but that,ll have to wait until I get the cash. Probably will cost me around $500.00 with drivers, power supply and another motor then shipping. So it,ll be a while, I'll just have to do until then. I read most of the xylotex docs and still trying to understand it. I,ll figure it out Later.

    Graham

I made my CNC router in the fall of 2006. I use the 4 axis driver with 4 495 steppers and it works well. Is the newer 4 axis driver weaker based on the lower vref settings?

Hey Monte, I doubt they would be weaker, I don't think they would build a weaker driver but apparently they use more volts which in turn give more power, So when you say it works fine what do you mean, what are you doing with the machine and what are your speeds and such ? I'm carving 3d carvings so speed is very important to me as well as the accelerations. To tell the truth I'm not sure what would the most speed you can get out of any machine when it comes to carvings? I've herd 150 ipm is about max because of accelerations. Graham

My table is 60" x 60" with a 49"x49" cutting area. It has a 2.5 hp router. I run speed of 60-80 ipm. Not fast but fine for this application. I have Aspire now that does 3D relief.
