Hi Group
I am leaning toward the Xylotex due to the pricing which
seems excellent. I was contemplating the Gecko system.
My only concern is can a 36 X 67 wood router cnc do real
work with the Xylotex. I notice that the max amps is 2.5 amps.
I assume this limits the size of the stepper. I plan to use
ball screws with 5 tpi. I`m wondering what maximum speeds
torque could be attained.
How fast do you want to cut? With the Xylotex, you're limited to around 200-250oz motors. Are you building a moving gantry machine? How heavy will your gantry be? What kind of router will you be using? A lot of factors determine the performance you'll be able to get. I'm building a 30 x 48 router with a Xylotex, with 250 oz motors, driving the gantry with 2 motors. I hope to be able to cut at about 50 to 75 ipm, and rapid at 100+ ipm. I'm using 1/2-4 acme screws. I can't gaurantee I'll get this speed, but I'm hoping. If you want to go faster, get gecko's
