Question step syn 4 wire hookup help needed.

step-syn, no diagram, 4 wire hookup help needed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 103-714-2341 step-syn sanyo denki motor. 4 wire motor.

I can use the multimeter to determine 2 pairs (windings)

I cannot find if its ok to hook up the pairs to the xylotes board either way. ie: a a# with one winding and b b# with the other. can the windings be hooked up either way.

I have been searching and reading for hours and I cant seem to figure it out.

Thanks,
nate.

I'm 99.9% sure that is what you'll do. I say this because if the motor needs to be reversed you'll swap a a# or b b# in their connections.

Also, a good read is the Step Motor Basics pdf at the Gecko Drives web site support page http://www.geckodrive.com/support.cfm . In there it explains how to hook up a 4 wire motor as basically when you have the pairs figured out, hook them up. If the motor turns the wrong way, reverse ONE PAIR of wire on the driver.

Check the pdf for yourself, I'm not an expert, not responsible for any magic smoke released.

Hi,
If you have two wires for one winding, they can wbe wired as such:

A - first winding wire
A# - second winding wire.

it does not matter which of the wires from the winding go to A or A#.

You will wire the B side similarly.

What IS IMPORTANT is that you do NOT want to have windings crossed so
that a wire from one winding is paired with a wire from another winding
on the same phase (i.e. A and A# for the A phase) as this will destroy
the drive.
