I went to a electronic supplier and asked for 4 conductor 22 ga shielded wire.
They sold me some and when I got home and was cutting it I discovered it was two bundels of two wires each, and each pair being twisted. Each bundle of two wires was wrapped with foil and had a bare stranded wire between the foil and the two in sulated wires.
Is this wire OK to use on my Xylotes stepper system?
I'm a newbie and kinda concerned since the wire that came from Xylotex was a bundle of four wires and then a wire mesh around all four and the wire I baught was configured differently.![]()
This is know as individually shielded pair cable, it offers a little better shielding than overall shielded pairs, ground one end of all the bare drain wires, to avoid ground loops it is best to set up a common ground point for all power supply commons (if you have grounded supplies) and all shields etc.
