Quesiton on steps? This cannot be true is it?

With a direct drive motor to lead screw, how many steps are you guy getting for 1 revolution when using Full, 1/4, Half, and 1/8 modes with the xylotex.

After reading there documentation on the 4 axis board it seems that in Full step mode the driver will move the motor shaft 45 degrees for every input pulse. Is this true?

You need to know how many steps per rev your steppers are. Most common ones are 200 steps per rev. So full stepping gives you that - 200 steps or 1.8deg per step.

So half stepping would be 400 steps per rev. 1/8 stepping would be 1600 steps per rev.

Thats what I thought but the way the manual's step table looked it make it look like a 45 degree rotation in full step mode.

Those are electrical degrees, not mechanical degrees. When you go through 90 electrical degrees, I think you have taken one full step, or two half steps.

Actually, its pretty easy to understand. You see, each step is 45 degrees BEFORE taxes, Federal surcharge, dealer prep, and destination fees. You just get left with only 1.8 degrees when you are done. Just like real life. Simple, no?
