Hi, A note about voltages for the Xylotex XS-3525/8S-3 (and single axis board as well). The MINIMUM voltage required is 8 volts. 12V will work for the board, but you can DOUBLE your performance by going to 24V. The ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM voltage for the board is 35V and this INCLUDES any BackEMF created by the motor. The maximum running voltage suggested is 90% of the ABS MAX, which equates to about 30V. 24V switchers are common, as are 18V transformers (12V supplies from old PCs are virtually free, but performance will be sluggish with this voltage). A 24VAC from a transformer, when rectified and filtered yeilds a voltage the is a bit to close to ABS MAX (and if there is a spike on the power line, or BEMF from the motors, could exceed the ABS MAX and destroy the drive). The MAXIMUM drive capability of the drive is 2.5A/phase. This is set by adjusting an onboard potentiomenter. You should never exceed 3.60V at the voltage reference (Vref) test points (TP). Doing so can cause overheating of the drive. Although there is built-in thermal shutdown, continous overheating can destroy the circutry. When driving near the abs max voltage or current levels, it is recommended (often required) that a cooling fan be used to blow across the heatsinks to keep the drive cool. A month ago I started a newsgroup on yahoo groups for my products. I haven't announced it until now. It can be found at: groups.yahoo.com/group/Xylotex/ If you have questions, comments, or suggestion for me or the products, you can post them there if you would like. I will try to answer in a timely fashion. Thanks, Jeff http://www.xylotex.com |

Thanks, Jeff I think most guy’s would rather you answer them here, no one likes to have pop up Ads and email groups are impossible to follow.
