| I am considering using the Xylotex driver board for a retrofit of a Dahlgren Engraver. My question is two-fold. One, the steppers currently on the machine are triple stack 23's, 3.4Vdc and 2.9amp. Since the Xylotex boards are limited to 2.5 amps, will this cause me problems if I use these motors, ie: overheating, lost steps ect.... Second, am I reading correctly that the xylotex boards can use either regulated or unregulated power supplies as long as it does not exceed 35 Vdc? If I use a 24Vdc regulated supply that has 10amps capacity. Will I need to use anything to limit the current. Thanks, Alan Pensacola Florida |

| You can set the current on the xylotex, so just set it for a little less than 2.5 amp. Use a fan. The 10 amp supply will be fine as is, as long as it can supply the current for all the motors. Eric

| Matt40, You may be looking for something that you won't find. Since P=IE, or Volts*Amps=Watts, you will need a 72V*30A=2160 Watts. A standard AC wall plug is only good for 1800 watts. It's not that you can't use higher wattage plugs, but it may be difficult to find. If you don't find something, I can wind custom toroidal transfomers at 1800 Watts, and show you how to put it all together. |
