Can't win for loseing, | | Bought it Friday got it Monday, very nice. Got to say though; I feel cheated, I did not hear a pop and the smoke was not black, it was sort of gray. The Xylotex board that I was replacing had the terminals marked with a + sign for the power supply hook-up, this one didn't so I guessed the top terminal was + like the previous board. The previous board had (2) male connectors in the lower left-hand corner under the power supply terminals, the one on the left received the Fan plug and the one on the right received the connector from inside the computer. My new board had these two male connectors together in one block plus another one immediately above them! When I read the "READ THIS FIRST", it was talking about Vbb, ENA, GND, Vref, IDC, and Vcc, and on and on, not knowing what any of this stuff means I connected it up like the last one and when I turned the computer on, I smelled smoke, I un-plugged the computer as fast as I could but the damage was already done. When I tried to turn the computer on again there was a message "operating system not found". Upon examining the Xylotex Board I discovered a track burnt out from what you are calling "ENAZ" to I don't know where! Maybe I can get the computer working again and then I will solder a jumper from the "ENAZ" to a place on the other side of the burned damage, My question is was there a connection about 2.25" along the way where the track passed very close to a do-nut shaped hole through the board? I can solder a jumper, if there are no blown components then maybe I can find a professional electronics engineer to hook this system up for me because this board and your instructions are definitely not for the average machinists. I showed the board to one of our professional electronics engineers here and he said "WOW that's cheap", not so cheap for me, $152.00 and I didn't even hear a "POP". |
