Just curious - how did you prep for the paint. what type of paint did you use, and are you happy with the results?
Here's yet another build log of a G0643. I will try incorporate a lot of lessons learned from many of you who have done this before, but my main reason for having this build log is because I will need some help as I go along for answers I could not find.
I received my G0463 about two weeks ago and the build began. Here are other parts I have ordered....
- CNC Fusion Deluxe Kit w/ helical couplings.
- PMDX132 Breakout/Motherboard (I have used this same setup in my CNC Router)
- PMDX135 Power Prep Module
- Gecko 203V Stepper Drivers
- Honeywell roll lever limit switches
I have not yet procured steppers. Will likely do tomorrow. Are there any good sources to get steppers from? I hear of Keling quite a bit, but wondering who else sells good steppers.
This is all the components I have for now.
I will build the control box once I can locate a good enclosure. Do you guys have any suggestions?
I am building a stand and will post progress on that later.
And now for some pictures............
Pics 1, 2 & 3 - Out of the box and during tear-down.
Pics 4 & 5 - Prepping for paint. I decided to change the color. Hence, PURPLE MILLenium:
Pics 6 & 7 - Paint drying.
Just curious - how did you prep for the paint. what type of paint did you use, and are you happy with the results?
Looks nice. Just an idea, You ought to tape the ways on the Z (Column) and paint it as well along with the Z Bracket. You really can't oil it on a regular basis and it will rust pretty bad if your not carefull.

I bought my steppers and control from www.candcnc.com He sells complete turnkey motors/controls/enclosures. A 3 axis 620oz in setup is $845. This thing is built like a tank, and works great. Saved a ton of time for me.
