    X3 Mill Z-axis bearing block wear issues

    Folks,

    I noticed during my X3 CNC conversion that the bearing block (seat) at the bottom of the Z-axis screw only has thrust bearings and no radial bearings. This is part# 134 from the X3 parts list. Since my CNC fusion kit has a pulley attached near this point there will be side loads that could wear out the surface of the bearing block bore or ball screw shaft. What do you'll think about this issue? For now, I'll just pack it with a bunch of grease. Later, I was thinking of purchasing a spare bearing block from Grizzly and then milling out a small pocket within the block to house a radial type bearing like below:
