Hi Guys,

I'm removing the bearings from the spindle of my X3. It has not been easy. I'm down to the last one. When I pulled the spindle from the quill, the angular bearing split with the inner half staying snug on the spindle and the outer half still jammed up in the quill. Removing that outer half from the quill is the problem. It backs to the metal of the quill so there is no pushing from the back.

What I need is a 1.75" blind bearing puller. Unfortunately the reasonably priced kit I bought only goes up to 1.25". The kit that is big enough to pull this out costs about $700. I tried modifying a 3 pronged bearing puller, but it broke because I had to shave the teeth down too much to get them to fit behind the bearing that they didn't have the strength.

The only other things I can think to do are : 1. find a mechanic with the right tool and convince them to help me out, or 2. say screw it and buy a new quill.

Anybody have any other ideas?

Thanks.
