    Broke a vise! What?

Well last night I was working and my LittleMachineShop 2550 vise just gave way. I wasn't putting a lot of pressure on it. So I took it apart and the cast iron sliding jaw split from the contact point of the drive all the way to the top. I didn't thing I was that strong ! Now I don't clamp down with that much pressure, but I always am using parallels and only grabbing about 1/4" of 2"x4" aluminum stock. What torque should I be using?

I have to say that LittleMachineShop has been unbelievably helpful. They are shipping me a new vise no charge today. They said if they need the old one back for warranty they are going to send me a shipping label. Never have I dealt with a company that was this easy and quick to deal with a problem.

One of these days I will be serious enough to get a Kurt vise. But that probably wont be for a while!

I have nothing but good things to say about the little machine shop, they stand behind everything they sell. over the years i have had some things go wrong and they always took care of the problem ASAP. I once need a part they were out of stock on, they took apart a demo model and sent me the part. Great people.
