    TOMBSTONE DESIGN

    hello, everybody i am trying to design or tombstone for a vertical machining center mounted in a forth axes so i can machine 3 sides in maybe one set up ,can anyone helpme with some sketches or files of a tombstone that can be mounted on a forth axes any suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated thank you for you help and time pictures and links are welcome too thanks.

    I've got no pics but may be of some help , tombstone designs can depend upon a number of factors , a hex fixture (if it will fit) is good because you have many sides to mount parts but on the other hand if you use a triangular fixture then you can gain in clearance in getting the spindle and tool holder in much tighter to the work if your setting up some funky stuff , though you will have less room for parts , theres a bit of a trade off
    is this being setup for jobbing or is it being setup for one particular production job
