What types of holding devices do you have and what do you plan on doing to it??? This can go a number of ways.

You need to be a little more specific.

Well, the end product is just a 4" dia. disc 1/4" thick we make it for the coding industry. As for holding devices.. since its just a manual lathe i have a 6 and 8" chuck. Don't know if this is specific enough.

drive on the faces. Sandwich the gold between two plates - both 3.75" diameter, one in the chuck, one held by the tailstock with a center. This is how I always do discs - works like a charm.

Edit: do a single facing pass on the plates with a boring bar, from about 3.25" diameter down to center, leaves a protruding ring at the outside of the face - makes sure they are driving on the outside of the face. If the face of the plate held by the chuck isn't perfectly flat, you can end up driving with the center of the disc, causes it to slip, mess up yer material.

How many disks per run or total annual production?

    No holes in the disk?
