    SUB Plate holding

    I have a h210 4th that I am building a tombstone for..
I want to put sub plates on the tombstone.

IE load them on the bench while other parts are running.
a long time ago Like in the mid 90's I used some bolts that turned one turn and locked in. I cant seem to find them now.

The plate has dowel pins to locate on the tombstone. just trying to find some hardware that will lock the plates down to the tombstone thats quick and easy and holds tight. Yes I could use 1/2-13 bolts but that defeats the purpose I need to run 50 plates per side IE 200 at a time

The tombstone is made out of alum its 23 inches long 6.0" wide, Then I have alum subplates 5/8" thick, I could go 3/4" thick if I have to but thats pushing the limit on z travel and table clearance to bottom of the 4th axis
I have a "A" frame for the support end.

    Thanks
    Delw

    "Ball Lock"???

    Does that ring a bell?

I vaguely recall seeing a systen for clamping fixture plates that used a pin with three balls sticking partway out of holes with a tapered screw inside that locked them out. They fitted in hardened inserts which had a groove the balls enterd to pull the pin down.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

    Arrow

Jergens is another supplier and I believe, hold the original patent on "Ball-lock" systems. Expensive yes... at least till you calculate the ROI.

    Best of luck.
