    Default Fourth axis work holding

I know there is a simple solution for this but I'm rather new to this so forgive the ignorance.

I have a Yuasa cnc indexing table similar to this one here: Rotary table It has six t bolt slots like the one shown. I need to get a chuck to fasten to it. I am looking to purchase a chuck to place on this table but just don't know enough to make a well informed decision. If i purchased a plain back chuck, I would need an adapter plate to fasten the chuck correct? I can't seem to find a good adapter plate to work for a plain back though. Again, i'm not exactly sure what i'm looking for though. Would it be better to purchase a a front mount chuck like this one front mount chuck to mount on it instead and skip the adapter plate all together? The chuck I purchase would be solely used on this table so I wouldn't need to use it else where.

    thoughts?

    Thanks!

It looks like that front-mount chuck would work. You'd need T-nuts to mount it through those 3 holes. But if you're just getting one chuck, I'd suggest getting one with independent jaws, not a self-centering type that will only hold round or square stock. If you get a plain-back chuck, you'd have to get (or build) a mounting plate for it, and they can run into money - here's a place you can find them, which will give you an idea: Lathe Chuck Adapter Back Plates | MSCDirect.com

Why do you want a chuck instead of vise? Do you make mostly round parts?
