There are some issues, however. Depending on the size of the models, and the detail needed, you may find that tools may not reach into tight areas. Very small bits tend to be very short. Longer ones can be very fragile? What material will you be cutting? Wood? Wood can be very tricky. You can carve for hours, and at the end a piece can split off and ruin it. But that goes for other types of woodworking as well.
And did you notice I said hours? Large, detailed carvings can take many ours to carve. For smooth, detailed work, sometimes as little as .005" or less is removed at a time. 200 passes for every inch.
But bottom line is yes, it's possible. Very possible. My suggestion, is to spend at least a month reading everything you can here, and everything will become more clear. Ask as many questions as you need along the way, we're here to help. For some visual things that can be done, take a look at www.deskproto.com Lots of examples of what a 3 and 4 axis router can do.
