Thumbs down What do you know about this circular saw???

    Hello all,

I was given this saw about 25 years ago, I forgot I had it, and I recently dug it out of storage while I was looking for something else. Anyway I have done some research online and could not find out any information for this design of saw. What I did find was a Wappit saw with a diamond shape drive hub but not the type I have. Do any of you know anything about this saw and drive hub, is it rare, custom made, an early version of the diamond drive or what?? I have included a picture of a blade for this saw it shows the shape of the drive. This saw works fine and has plenty of power. Any info on this would be appreaciated. Thanks

Wappet was sold to Oster >true.

Oster Mfg. was located in Milwaukee. >FALSE

Everyone around here knows that Oster Mfg was a Racine, Wisconsin company. Same for Gorton Mills and Tree Mills. At one time we were a very heavy industrial area. Now even Case/Internationkal Harvester tractors are going away. The Case foundry is just a flat chunk of ground now and the buildings are long gone. The Case transmission plant is now closed also or seems to be as all the signs have been removed and I see no activity.

By the way, Mom worked for Oster Mfg. Also may have also done a stint with Sunbeam.

For 70+ years it still looks in good condition. I say that compared to what I have bought in the pass and what it looks like now. Does it still work? Looks heavy as hell. Just goes to show you that they dont make them like they used to.

Hello, yes it still works, I can't slow it down in 2x8 no matter how fast I push it. It cuts great, and yes its heavy according to my scale its almost 27 pounds. I to question the sacles accuracy, I have'nt bothered to verify it. No they do not make them like this anymore!
