Sounds like your .obj files aren't following the file spec. I loaded an .obj created in Lightwave into Sculptris two days ago with no problems.

hey poorfarmer25, thanks for the complement on the grizzly. I have a 3axis cnc router, I did it in 4 slices, each slice is 1.5" and the teeth I carved by hand. using deer antler.
Ok you may be getting the file in silo but it might be out of sight, you need to go in editors/option tab and open numerical editor, there you will see position x,y,z , click 0 for each and it should show up.
In sculptris I know it doesn't like to big a file so try decimating it to a lower file size. I use meshlab for that. And dont forget only quads or tri's in sculptris. also it depends a lot on your graphics card too. any probs just ask away. Graham

Applying scale before export can fix that issue for atleast Blender.

I am not very artistic(I can't draw at all for instance) and I probably am not good enough to sculpt much. I'm familiar with using a base mesh to start and I understand a lot of the technicalities past 3d modeling(3d is a section of it), but understanding and being good are different things

Hey Jim, actually I meant if you need to do a large relief carving like a forest with different animals and trees and such you can do each one separate then put them all together and arrange them to suit your needs.
I,m not much of a drawer my self but sculpting in sculptris comes naturally, start off with something small and easy like a bird or something or a happy face, like they say practice makes perfect. and like I said I can help if needed. Graham
