Hi,
i have some project which consists of making stamps from wood about 50x50mm size. Sth like Celtic knots and other designs. i use 1/8 30 and 45 degree bits and respectively 5mm deep pass and final depth for the 30 degree bit.
i like the piece to come out from the machine most perfect possible, cause i will not like later to clean it manually or with a burr and dremel later
so till now i figured :
-strategy
having in mind that i use vcarving paths ,auto or at certain depth, depends if the auto wants to dig further than 5mm i use flat depth 5mm
so i zero the Z 0.01 inch above material for first pass
later normal pass
so the question here is there another technique to achieve burr removal or this is ok, i mean faster technique
secon question is what offset you use normally with hard woods, sth different than 0.01 inch?
material
till now i tried some but best result i achieve with wallnut, though its still grainy to my liking and the cedar like materials that are not grainy, have some small holes.
what wood would be the best for a vcarved wooden stamp? the lines that will stamp are like from 1mm to 5mm wide. And are there any kind of burs 1/8 or 1/4 30 or 45 degrees that i can use directly on the cnc instead of the v carving bits?
some ideas?i thought of buying cherry to try, the problem here is that i have to buy un flattened rough pieces 3m long and if its not good i will not need it. I wish i had a pack of 100 types of woods to try![]()
