    dust collection vs hold down

The 2 functions can be done with the same in small production. Dust particulate accumulation is the biggest obstacle in using the same as both.
If you suck down more particulates than your vacuum can handle your parts will no longer be held down on the vacuum table or pods.

Dust collectors are low pressure high volume, you wont generate enough pressure to hold much down with one, and they dont like to be run restricted.

So I would have to say no.

I built my shop vaccum pump for $!00 I picked up a used duo-welch pump and motor mounted it on an old 20 gallon compressor tank with wheels. works great. Found the pump on craigslist they was asking $200. I offered $100. and brought it home.
