| Is this a one-shot deal? how many layers do you need at .5"? If it is a one-off you could get some hardwood offcuts and make it up. I have used clear epoxy paint for impregnating. Al.

| Hi Al, I would be needing it in small quantities of 30-50, the Layers need to be pretty thin for better detail, I am guessing but I suspect that they are 1/16 in thickness or so. How did you use the clear epoxy for impregnating. Thanks Ken |

| If you have access to a vacuum chamber (sure, I carry a spare one all the time) you could emerese the wood in 2pack resin, pull out all the air pockets from the timber under vacuum, relese the vac and the timber will pull in the resin. Just make sure the 2pack resin doesnt go off too quick. I have never done this b4, just an idea. I am sure it would be easier to find a supplier of the stuff though. Good luck with your search |

| sure, I carry a spare one all the time LOL I was wondering how they do that and I bet you are pretty close, unfortunately, too time consuming. I have looked and just cannot find this item, except from a exporter in Pakistan, but that requires a financial involvement that I am not willing to take at this time. It's use is very common, I would think it would not be all that difficult to locate but no success so far. Thanks Benny Ken |

| There are a couple of magazines dedicated to knifemaking. Blade is one I remember. Seems like this should be available from there. Luthiers do this sort of thing all the time absent the epoxy. I would think many knife makers make their own as well. |

| Ken what color do you want it in or do you want multi color? I have several, wel ok maybe 4 or 5 different colors including a natural oak that I use in my pistol grip production. You do know how expensive this stuff is..................... don't you? Mike ps I suppose I could tell you that I have burgandy, cocobolo which is a beautiful burnt orange, black, the oak and I think I still have some multicolor pieces but not as many.

| Thanks Unterhaus, I did find some suitable in size for knifes but not large enough for grips. Mike (Turmite), colors would not be specific but mostly wood colors such as you have mentioned and perhaps the multi color. You are making me nervous now no, I don't know how expensive that is.Let me think, where Pakistan is now ![]() Benny, Ger21, I will check all the links, thanks for finding them, I found only one relevant site. |
