    Cleaning Bits?

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a bit cleaning method they would like to share. I’m considering purchasing a cheap ultrasonic cleaner.

Also, do you have any chemical cleaning solutions you find to work best?

    Thanks,
    BillJ

oven cleaner works well on saw blades to remove the pitch and gunk that build on them if you are talking about wood cutters.

Yes I was talking about bits used for wood. Thanks for the very useful tip.

I tried out this bit cleaner http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/200...ump-Spray.aspx It cleaned the bits up in about 30 seconds. I could tell that my bits cut much better.

Then I decided to clean the rails and V wheels using the cleaner and I was amazed by the amount of grime that came off.

Bottom line, the wheels and rails looked clean but they were not and the bit cleaner did the job.

    Thanks,
    BillJ

Woodcraft's brand big pink bottle pitch and blade cleaner works great and is pretty cheap because you mix it with water. I keep a jar of it next to my machine and when I change a bit I throw the dirty one in the jar for a while; sometimes it takes a few swipes with an old toothbrush.
