    Which lower cost benchtop lathe?

I'm looking for a cast iron benchtop wood lather that I can eventually convert to CNC. Right now I'm considering the Grizzly G0624 and the PSI TCLPROVS Turncrafter Pro VS. Amazon covers the shipping on the PSI and the Grizzly is about $290 delivered. I don't have the room for a self-standing unit and have the space for a benchtop unit on my long workbench. I have a 1/2HP inverter-duty TEFC motor and 1/2HP VFD, so the VS isn't a requirement and can be accomplished with better control via my motor and VFD. I'd like at least a 10" swing for future use, but my main use will be turning smaller pieces under 6" diameter and 12" length for audio DIY projects such as speaker building and small amplifier feet. The main use and reason for CNC will be turning aftermarket wood parts for custom headphones and knobs for amps.

Any recommendations for one or the other or a model I've missed for under $500 that can be converted to CNC in the future?

    Thanks

The Jet is a favorite of many. I used to own one before my buddy borrowed it permanently.

I would go with a Jet before what's mentioned. I have two and both get worked hard, never a problem. Rikon is an excellant choice. The Rikon does have a much better tailstock than any mentioned here. The Jet would be 2nd in this regard.
