Can anyone recommend a good quality self-centering chuck
for a Craftsman 2hp, 15" swing lathe, 1"-8tpi. I want to get into bowl turning.
I have looked at the Supernova, Talon & Barracuda on-line. I noted these because they come with several jaw types . . . any and all info is appreciated.

Thanks Wade . . . I purchased a Talon . . . haven't used it a lot yet . . . but from what I can tell its a great chuck!

Congrats on your purchase. You cannot go wrong with it. Make sure that when you make your tenon, that it is a flat tenon, not a dovetailed on.
Happy turning!

I've got an older Nova (before the SuperNova was available) and it's been great. I'd definately go with Nova again.

Hi, for that size lathe you do not want a Oneway Talon as suggested. It is made for the Mini market. Try the Oneway Stronghold. I have one and use it almost daily for years.

Ooops, sorry but I didnt read all of the posts. To each his own.
