| Newbie needs help with router bit selection. I've been on the forum for a while and always left a bit frustrated. I try using the search and never seem to find what I need. So I'm going to post although I'm sure the answer is here somewhere: Q: I have a CNC router that uses a trim router as the spindle. I want to engrave, drill, cut both wood and acrylic. Also, I *may* do carbon fiber but prob not due to the dust, etc. Is there a good resource for finding the bits: Endmills, rounded endmills, v-bits, etc. Which is good for what material, etc. Basically a guide for a newbie using hobby CNC router. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

| Thanks Someone emailed me the Onsrud router bit guide in PDF format. Its got a LOT of information so I guess I should read it before asking any more questions. At first glance, though, it appears to be what I needed. I plan on using a trim router to cut and engrave both wood and acrylic. For that primary usage I think I need to select a couple of good striaght bits (cutting) and V-bits (engraving). I may also pick up a 1/8" ball endmill for playing with some 3D created in BobArt. If you use a home made CNC router with a trim router and have done any of the above with success, please post what bit(s) you are using. Thanks!
